Build, preview, and fix errors
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”- Open a compile-capable source file (
.tex,.typ,.myst, or.mdwith compile flow enabled). - Keep the bottom panel available so you can inspect diagnostics.
- Ensure you can edit and save the active file.
- Open the target file from File workspace.
- In the preview toolbar, set compile mode to Auto, On Save, or Manual.
- Run Compile if needed.
- Open the bottom panel and inspect Output and Problems.
- Click a problem row to jump to the exact location and fix the source.
- Recompile until errors are cleared.
- Review the preview and use zoom/page/find controls to validate output.
- If needed, export/print from preview actions.
Verification
Section titled “Verification”- Compile completes and the Problems list has no blocking errors for the active file.
- Clicking a problem navigates to its source location.
- Preview reflects your latest source state after compile.
- Output and Problems tabs remain usable for later diagnostics.
If Something Goes Wrong
Section titled “If Something Goes Wrong”- Compile button appears inactive
- Confirm the active file is compile-capable in Markup formats.
- Preview does not update
- Run manual compile and check for source errors in Compiler, build, and preview.
- Errors are hard to trace
- Use Problems list navigation to jump directly to each issue location.
- Compile controls missing
- Verify the active file format supports compilation in Markup formats.
- Output panel stays empty
- Switch between Output and Problems, then re-run compile. Keep the build log visible while reproducing.
