Resolve sync conflicts and permissions
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”- Open the affected project and keep status indicators visible.
- Have enough access to inspect project member roles.
- Check collaboration status (
Synced,Connected,Connecting,Offline) in the status bar. - Confirm your role and membership in Sharing and permissions.
- Distinguish permission issues (
viewer/revoked access) from transport issues (offline/disconnected). - If a file was changed outside your current editor state, resolve with Keep mine or Load external before continuing.
- If access changed, re-open member state in Share Project and retry.
- If sync is degraded, reconnect and reopen the project.
- Use Version history when you need to recover after conflicting edits.
Verification
Section titled “Verification”- Collaboration indicator returns to expected state.
- Previously blocked actions (edit/comment/share) now work for your role.
- Conflict banners are cleared and file content is stable.
If Something Goes Wrong
Section titled “If Something Goes Wrong”- Still cannot edit after reconnect
- Re-verify role is not
viewerand check whether access was revoked. - Sync keeps flipping between states
- Treat as connectivity instability; avoid concurrent high-risk edits until status stabilizes.
- Recovered content is still inconsistent
- Restore from a known-good snapshot and coordinate with collaborators before continuing.
- Unexpected redirect or access message appears
- The owner may have revoked access; request re-invite from a project owner/admin.
